Pro Tip: If disabling that setting interferes with your day-to-day workflow, you can disable that setting for a browser you use only for Turnitin and use another browser for your everyday browsing with the setting enabled.

It happens when your browser is ‘blocking third-party cookies’. You will need to disable that setting to be able mark your students submissions.

Depending on the browser you are using, you will need to follow different instructions:

If you use Google Chrome:

  • At the top right, click More (three dots) and then Settings.
  • At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
  • In the ‘Privacy’ section, click Content settings.
  • Under ‘Cookies’, click Block third-party cookies.
  • Make sure that the toggle at the right turns from blue to grey.
  • Log out of your LMS and log in again.

If you use Mozilla Firefox:

  • Click the menu button and choose Options (for Windows) or Preferences (for Mac).
  • Select the Privacy panel.
  • Set ‘Firefox will:’’ to Use custom settings for history.
  • Set ‘Accept third-party cookies’ to Never.
  • You can close this tab, as any changes you’ve made will automatically be saved.
  • Log out of your LMS and log in again.

If you use Safari:

  • Choose Safari (from the top left-hand corner) and select Preferences.
  • Click the Privacy tab,
  • Under ‘Cookies and website data’, select Allow from websites I visit or Always allow.
  • Close that window.
  • Log out of your LMS and log in again.

If you use Internet Explorer:

  • At the upper-right, click the cog icon .
  • Select Internet Options.
  • Click the Privacy tab.
  • Select the Advanced button.
  • Check the box Override automatic cookies handling.
  • Under ‘Third-party Cookies’ select Always.
  • Click OK.
  • Log out of your LMS and log in again.
